The managing director and founder of AES Engineering and AESSEAL, Chris Rea, was voted as Net Zero Champion in the first ever Engineering and Manufacturing Awards at a special ceremony in London.
Supported by leading UK engineering publications within the MA Business publishing and events group, the EMAs are intended to celebrate the projects, teams, people and companies at the heart of the UK engineering and manufacturing sectors.
As well as company awards, the EMAs celebrate individuals, and Chris Rea said he was honoured to have been chosen as Net zero champion.
As well as founding the AES Engineering group, Chris Rea also set up the Betterworld Solutions initiative, which brings together businesses interested in environmentally friendly investment.
Congratulating the other winners, he said it was "excellent news" that the FluRefin project led by Prof. Peter Styring at the University of Sheffield, won the EMA Engineering Impact award.
I am confident that we will hear more about FluRefin, an innovative carbon capture technology that AESSEAL was happy to help bring to the prototype stage.
Jon Excell, editor and publisher of The Engineer said:
This year's competition has shone a light on the incredible contribution made by manufacturers large and small and showcased the role played by engineers in addressing some of society's most pressing challenges.
