On the 19th of September AESSEAL® hosted their 2011 open day at the company's UK headquarters. The day's events included both the presentation of their 2011 Queen's Award and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers presidential address.
The Queen’s Award for International Trade was presented to the AES Engineering Group Managing Director, Chris Rea OBE , by the Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire, David Moody. This is the 12th Queen’s Award won by the company.
Later in the day AESSEAL® hosted an address by the President of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Professor Roderick Smith (FrEng, ScD, FImechE). As a part of this address AESSEAL was presented with an ImechE Professional Excellence Award.
This prestigious award was introduced by ImechE regional manager, Dennis Heeley who stated that the award was given due to the company's "commitment to excellence in the development of their engineers”. Mr Heeley went on to say that within AESSEAL® “there has been a massive commitment to engineering excellence".
The award was accepted by AESSEAL® CEO, Jonathan Wilkinson before the ImechE presidential address for 2011, discussing the future of engineering.
